The AXS1 and AXS2 single and dual swing gate kits use a welded actuator mounting bracket that bolts to the gate frame. The TSS1 slide gate operator uses a different mounting plate, welded to a steel post or concrete-anchored stand. The TDS2 dual swing kit shares mounting hardware with the AXS2 but often gets paired with heavier fabricated steel gates, which changes the weld repair math.

Here’s the gotcha we see most often in Frisco: Ghost Controls ships mounting brackets sized for gate frames up to roughly 2 inches thick, but many local gates are built from heavier steel or aluminum tubing. When a bracket gets force-fit or shimmed, the weld becomes the failure point, not the bracket itself. Before we quote, we measure the gate frame thickness and the bracket mounting surface. That number decides whether we’re re-welding the existing tab or fabricating a custom bracket that actually fits the gate you have, not the gate the kit assumed you had.

Signs Your Ghost Controls Welding & Fabrication Is Failing

• Gate sags at the hinge side. The hinge weld or the hinge plate itself is pulling away from the post. You’ll see a growing gap at the top or bottom weld bead and a gate that drags on the far side. This is the most common fabrication failure we see on Frisco gates more than five years old.
• Actuator mount clicks or shifts when the gate moves. The welded tab that anchors the Ghost Controls arm has cracked at the weld line. You’ll hear a metallic tick at the start of travel and see fresh rust forming in the crack, which is how you know it’s structurally failing, not just loosening.
• Gate travels past its stop point. The mechanical stop bracket, usually a welded angle or tab, has bent or broken off. The operator’s limit switch may be working correctly, but the physical stop is no longer there to catch the gate, so it over-travels on every cycle and stresses the arm and the hinge welds.
• Bracket bolts keep loosening. Ghost Controls brackets bolt through the gate frame. When the frame itself has egged-out holes from years of torque, tightening the bolts no longer helps. The fabrication fix is to plate the frame, weld the plate, and re-drill clean mounting holes. Retightening alone lasts weeks, not years.
• Post shows a spiral crack at the weld collar. On slide gate operators, the mounting post often gets a steel collar welded on to receive the TSS1 rail. When that collar weld fails, the rail loses alignment and the gate starts binding or jumping the drive track. You’ll see the crack running around the collar before the gate fully derails.
